Charlie Adam interested in becoming Dundee next manager as former skipper eyes talks after Davidson no go

Former Dundee star Charlie Adam is interested in the club's vacant manager’s job.

The former Dark Blues skipper hasn’t applied for the position but would be open to talks with the Dens Park hierarchy. Adam brought down the curtain on his playing career with Dundee. He returned to help his hometown team win the Championship and then hung his boots up after they were relegated from the Premiership last summer.

The 37-year-old has since made a successful start to his coaching career with Burnley. The ex-Scotland and Rangers star is currently an under-23 coach and loans manager with the Premier League new boys. The Scot has managed all Burnley’s first-team loans and has built up a wealth of contacts south of the border. Adam has a top job at Turf Moor and it would take something special for him to entice him away.

The chance to manage Dundee in the Premiership could well be one of those opportunities. Dundee have been on the lookout for a new manager since Gary Bowyer exited after leading the team to the Championship title. Dundee had thought they were close to a deal to appoint former St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson but he turned that opportunity down.
