Chaos for '150 passengers' stranded at Manchester Airport as Jet2 plane goes AWOL

They had dreams of watching England's Euro 2024 clash with Switzerland in a Spanish bar, sangria in hand. But a dream trip to the sunshine turned to chaos.

Passengers expecting to be making their way to Mallorca were forced to settle for Manchester Airport after being left temporarily stranded.

According to holidaymakers booked on the flight, their Jet2 plane 'failed to show up'.

Some '150 passengers' bound for Palma from Manchester Airport at 8am today, July 6, had to be taken by bus to Leeds Bradford Airport after a plane failed to materialise, say frustrated travellers. The ticket-holders have since been placed onto two separate planes, which were due to take off this evening.

Jet2 was responsible for flight LS1775 to Palma from Manchester. The company put down the absent plane to 'operation reasons'.

"Everyone on the flight was looking forward to watching the England game in a Mallorca bar. But now it’s not going to happen," said one furious passenger to the Manchester Evening News.

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: “Due to operational reasons, we have had to re-accommodate customers on flight LS1775 from Manchester to Palma today (Saturday 6th July) onto alternative flights. We would like to apologise to all affected customers for the inconvenience and can reassure customers that we will get them away on their well-deserved holidays.”
