Championship wrap: Callum Robinson on target in Cardiff rout

Republic of Ireland striker Callum Robinson was on target as Cardiff produced their best display of the Championship season to thrash Plymouth 5-0 and heap further misery on Wayne Rooney.

Alex Robertson struck first his league goal since joining from Manchester City in the 16th minute, with Rubin Colwill doubling Cardiff's lead eight minutes later.

Rooney - serving a one-match touchline ban - then saw Ibrahim Cissoko receive a straight red card before Anwar El Ghazi, Robinson and Chris Willock got in on the act - leaving Plymouth winless on the road this term.

After scoring, Robinson paid tribute to his former teammate at Sheffield United, George Baldock.

Baldock, 31, was found dead in his swimming pool at his home in the southern Athens suburb of Glyfada on Wednesday.

Goals from Jaidon Anthony and Josh Brownhill helped Burnley return to the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Burnley were looking to return to winning ways following their goalless draw with Preston before the international break and Anthony kept his composure in front of goal to nudge the Clarets in front before the break.

It only took Burnley five minutes into the second half for them to double their lead as Brownhill slotted in the rebound from Zian Flemming's initial effort to stretch their unbeaten run to seven while Wednesday lost for the first time in four matches.

Freddie Potts and Callum Lang struck to give Portsmouth their first win of the campaign as they came from behind to beat QPR 2-1.

QPR hit the front early on through Karamoko Dembele but Lang cut back to Potts who thrashed home the leveller and they had the chance to take the lead from the penalty spot before the hour mark which Lang gladly accepted.
