Championship fixture release date confirmed for Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town

Championship clubs will find out their opponents and fixture schedule for the 2022-23 season later this month. Both Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town are preparing for another season in the second tier after just missing out on promotion back to the Premier League.

The Terriers suffered a cruel and controversial defeat at Wembley against Nottingham Forest when two penalty appeals were rejected by VAR, much to everyone's surprise. Carlos Corberan's men enjoyed an excellent campaign last season, finishing third.

The Blades also reached the play-offs and were a penalty shoot-out away from joining Huddersfield at Wembley following defeat at the City Ground, where Forest's win was marred by a pitch invasion after United produced a thrilling fightback.

The two sides met inside the first month of the last campaign, with a 94th-minute Levi Colwill goal securing a 2-1 win for the visitors. And they will find out the dates of next season's Yorkshire derbies when fixtures are released on Thursday, June 23.

The season kicks off earlier than normal due to the World Cup in Qatar, scheduled to get under way in November. Normally starting in August, the EFL whistle blows on Saturday, July 30.

Also as a result of the World Cup is a mid-season break, which will see the Championship come to a halt on November 12. It will resume a month later on December 10.

The season will still come to a close on a similar date to normal, with the Championship curtain coming down on Saturday, May 6.
