Chael Sonnen talks huge odds for UFC 280 Sean O'Malley vs Petr Yan

Sean O’Malley enters the octagon at UFC 280 for the biggest fight in his MMA career against Petr Yan, and company legend Chael Sonnen has discussed the massive disparity between the #1 ranked Yan and #12 ranked O’Malley.

O’Malley comes into the fight as the #12 ranked fighter in the Bantamweight division, whereas Yan sits just below the division Champion Aljamain Sterling as the #1 ranked contender.

Speaking on his YouTube channel (via Sportskeeda), the former rival of Anderson Silva discussed the 3:1 odds in favour of Yan.

“Right now DraftKings is separating these guys in terms of odds. 3:1 favourite for Yan, 3:1 favourite. He’s three times more likely to beat ‘Sugar’ Sean than the other way around. 

“I mean, you’re telling me a guy is three times better than another guy, and you’re telling me the fight’s going to be on their feet. Guys who get overwhelmed on their feet by somebody three times better than them don’t make it the distance.

“You have one job and it’s to win, and that’s what ‘Sugar’ Sean’s good at doing. 3:1 for Petr Yan in a standup battle. That is an overwhelming a** kicking.”

The official odds for the fight from the UFC website have Yan as the -305 favourite compared to O’Malley’s +255 underdog status.
