Chael Sonnen makes huge U-Turn on UFC 280 Prediction

UFC and MMA legend Chael Sonnen recently made a U-Turn on a prediction he made for the UFC 280 event.

The outspoken former rival of UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva makes a number of different predictions on his YouTube channel, and it appears as though he may have caught himself slipping on a recent occasion.

UFC 280 is set to be an absolutely massive event from the biggest company in mixed martial arts, but what has Sonnen seen now that he didn’t see previously?

Here is what Chael Sonnen had to say with regard to a massive bout at the UFC 280 event and why he changed his mind.

Speaking on James Lynch’s YouTube channel (via Sportskeeda), Sonnen revealed that he is tracking back on his previous thoughts regarding the UFC Bantamweight co-main event between Aljamain Sterling and TJ Dillashaw.

He revealed: “I knew [Aljamain Sterling] was really good. I recognized him as the world champion when he went in there and fought [Petr] Yan—a lot of people were resisting that—I didn’t know he was that good… 

“I didn’t realize Aljo was an absolute master of positions on the ground. Aljo on someone’s back, I’ve never seen anything like it. Gordon Ryan isn’t as good on somebody’s back as Aljo is… 

“A number of years ago, I would have told you T.J. [would win] and I’d have been real confident. I’m not confident anymore, this is a very close match.”

It remains to be seen whether Sterling is able to retain the title in this title bout. Interestingly, the official UFC website has Sterling listed as the favourite going into the contest at -170, with Dillashaw entering as the +145 underdog.
