Celtic 'will be hoping' to win multi-million pound transfer race

Celtic could have the edge in the race to sign defender Cameron Carter-Vickers because he’s already established himself as a regular for the Hoops, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Tottenham centre-back is currently on loan from the Premier League outfit, but Ange Postecoglou’s side want to bring the USA international to Celtic Park on a permanent basis.

Carter-Vickers arrived from Spurs last summer hoping to get his career back on track following some mixed loan spells in the Championship.

He marked his debut by scoring in the victory over Ross County and he simply hasn’t looked back.

In fact, Carter-Vickers has started all-but two domestic games since he moved to Glasgow, missing just one Scottish Premiership game and the recent fourth round tie at Annan in the cup.

Since coming into the side, the 24-year-old has formed a tremendous partnership with Carl Starfelt at the heart of the defence, which has played a major part in putting Celtic on course to win the treble.

Postecoglou’s side have already claimed the Scottish League Cup, are in the semi finals of the Scottish Cup, where they’ll face Rangers, and sit three points clear of their Old Firm rivals in the race for the title.

But Celtic face competition for Carter-Vickers’ services this summer, with several Premier League sides interested in his signature, although they’ve already been set a £10m asking price by his parent club.

When asked about their chances of signing Carter-Vickers permanently, he told GIVEMESPORT: “Celtic will be hoping the fact they’ve given Carter-Vickers the chance to go up to Scotland, play regularly and really perform, will stand them in good stead.”
