Celtic transfer plan abandoned as winger deal axed due to 'difficulties in cash transactions'

Celtic is reported to have offered Rubin Kazan winger Sejad Hakshabanovich this summer - but the Hoops didn't do business.

The Russian club sold Carl Starfelt to the Hoops last summer and were willing to come to the negotiation table with Celtic again this year, according to SE. Rubin bought Hakshabanovich for 6.5 million euros in 2021 from Swedish side IFK Norrköping and he is currently training back in that country with Halmstads.

Kazan offered their player to the Parkhead club but it is claimed 'Celtic abandoned the idea of signing another player from Rubin due to difficulties in cash transactions.' It's been a busy summer in Glasgow's east end with Daizen Maeda, Benjamin Siegrist, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota, Alexandro Bernabei, Moritz Jenz and Aaron Mooy all linking up again or for the first time with boss Ange Postecoglou. There are some exits on the way potentially as well.

Mikey Johnston is currently seeking a loan move and James McCarthy has reportedly got options in England to consider. Albian Ajeti and Christopher Jullien are also on the fringes.

Primarily a left-winger who can also play on the right and in attacking midfield, Hakshabanovich has 28 caps for Montenegro. He was previously with West Ham as a youngster and found success at Swedish pair Norrköping and Halmstads.

The transfer window is open until September 1st and Celtic kicked off their Premiership season with a 2-0 win against Aberdeen on Sunday.
