In talks: Celtic closing in on 8th summer transfer, Postecoglou will surely love it - opinion

Scottish champions Celtic appear set to welcome in their newest Parkhead arrival, amid reports that Rubin Kazan winger Sead Haksabanovic is set to join the club.

According to Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou, via Sky Sports, the 23-year-old is closing in on a move to Glasgow, with the Old Firm outfit set to make him their eighth major addition of the summer thus far.

Asked whether the deal was close to completion following Sunday’s triumph over Hearts, the 56-year-old replied: “Yeah I think that’s a fair assessment, it’s getting close.”

Sky suggests the respective parties are currently still in talks over a move.

The Montenegro international only joined his current side last summer, although spent the tail end of last term on loan at Swedish outfit Djurgardern, having seen his contract suspended at his parent club as a result of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

While not the high-profile capture that some supporters may be demanding – amid repeated links to Chelsea’s Ross Barkley – the addition of Haksabanovic could well prove an astute piece of business for the Scottish Premiership giants.

A versatile attacking player who can thrive on either flank or in a playmaking role, the 28-cap gem will offer huge flexibility to title-winning coach Postecoglou, with the one-time Australia boss likely to love having such an adaptable presence in his ranks.

Not only that, however, but the £4.95m-rated man also possesses real quality in the final third, having notably scored 21 goals and provided 25 assists in 76 games in all competitions during his time with IFK Norrkoping.
