Celtic transfer news as Christopher Jullien claim emerges and Vinicius Souza rules another club out

Out of favour Christopher Jullien 's move to Schalke is NOT completely off the table, according to reports in France.

The big centre-back is expected to move on from Celtic this summer after falling down the pecking order during his injury-enforced absence. Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers became the first-choice pairing last season and the American returns on a permanent deal, while Stephen Welsh is also ahead of Jullien in the queue.

He was in Germany on Thursday to complete a move to Schalke but after extensive medical tests, it was reported that the Bundesliga side had pulled the plug on the deal, with Jullien flying back to Glasgow to train with Ange Postecoglou 's team. Now, though, Goal in France say that there is still some hope, with player is in talks with the German side over reviving the move. Jullien has made 62 appearances for Celtic since joining from Tolouse in 2019 but it looks increasingly like he has played his final game, with Postecoglou seemingly eyeing another centre-back.

Manchester City duo Ko Itakura and Taylor Harwood-Bellis have both been extensively linked and signing a new central defender is likely to be one of the top priorities now Jota and Alexandro Bernabei have both signed.

Journalist Marc Mechenoua wrote: "The arrival of Christopher Jullien at Schalke 04 is not completely ruled out. Discussions are continuing between representatives of the players and the Ruhr club. Still no agreement between the two parties."

Meanwhile, Vinicius Souza is unlikely to move to Brugge this summer, according to multiple reports in Belgium.
