Celtic transfer diary as Jota puts deal on the backburner with world tour and Ko Itakura window closes

It's all set to be a busy summer at Celtic of incomings and outgoings.

With a Premiership title defence and Champions League surge just around the corner, Ange Postecoglou will be planning to revamp the squad.

And one man he will hope to see back on a permanent basis is Jota .

Following Cameron Carter-Vickers move from Tottenham being confirmed by Celtic, fans expected the Benfica loanee to quickly follow the American.

However, the winger remains on holiday ahead of pre-season.

The 23-year-old has been spotted in Ibiza, New York and Mexico City so far this summer, so it appears Jota catching some sunshine before committing to the Glasgow weather.

All eyes will remain on social media with supporters desperate to see a snap of the forward holding a green and white scarf aloft.

With Christopher Jullien set to stay next season, Postecoglou could look to add one more experienced central defender this summer.

But the time to make a move for Ko Itakura appears to be over for Celtic.

A host of clubs were scrambling to sign the Manchester City man after Schalke failed to make his loan deal permanent.

The Parkhead side appeared to be back in the hunt for a deal this summer, but Borussia Monchengladbach are set to announce Itakura as a £5million signing.

Joseph Okumu is another defensive-minded player who has been linked with the champions.

But the Gent star says he must be given regular game time if he is to leave Belgium.

Okumu told Nation Africa : “I don’t want just to move for the sake of moving, it depends with the project.

“I want to make progress, develop and grow to my maximum. The finances matter but it is not just about the finances. I have to get playing time and the surrounding has to be conducive.”
