Celtic's Republic of Ireland Under-19 midfielder Rocco Vata attracting European interest

Republic of Ireland Under-19 international Rocco Vata could be set to leave Celtic, with Serie A among one of his possible destinations.

Vata, whose father Rudi played for Celtic between 1993 and 1996, was in the matchday squad to face St Johnstone on Saturday but did not feature on the bench as speculation mounts over a Parkhead exit.

The 18-year-old is in the last year of his contract and can can leave for a training compensation fee of around £300,000 in January.

It is understood that the offer of a new deal from Celtic is now off the table.

Verona, who are two wins from two in the Italian top-flight, and Belgian side Club Brugge, who are competing in the Europa Conference League play-offs, have made enquiries for his signature ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

A fee of around £450,000, with add-ons, is what Celtic are hoping to recoup.

Vata made four substitute appearances for Celtic under former boss Ange Postecoglou but is yet to feature since Brendan Rodgers returned to the club following Postecoglou's summer move to Tottenham.
