Celtic receive Champions League boost as key Lazio defender suffers broken nose ahead of Parkhead clash

Italy international Alessio Romagnoli looks set to miss Lazio's Champions League showdown at Celtic next week after suffering a broken nose.

The former AC Milan defender is a key man for Maurizio Sarri's side and played in Lazio's return to winning ways in midweek when they beat Torino 2-0. But he suffered a clash of heads during the game and although he played on for the 90 minutes he had to get treatment after the game. That makes him a major doubt for the Rome-based side's trip to Parkhead next week.

And Lazio have confirmed the 13-times capped Italian international suffered a broken nose. They stated: "The medical staff communicates that Alessio Romagnoli underwent clinical and instrumental tests at Paideia International Hospital. The tests highlighted a compound fracture of the nasal bones caused by a trauma sustained during the match. The player has already started specific treatment and will be subjected to daily clinical monitoring."

He will definitely miss Lazio's weekend clash against AC Milan today and is expected to be out for the following games against Celtic and Atalanta.
