Celtic prankster drops wild Steven Gerrard claim to set Hotline on fire as Rangers punters have their own fan
It's Scottish Cup Final weekend and Celtic are on the brink of a world record-extending ninth Treble.
But in our mad and crazy world of Scottish football, Rangers and Steven Gerrard continue to hog the phone lines.
Caller Andrew Curran set the Hotline ablaze yesterday by claiming Stevie G didn't stop 10-in-a-row and it was Celtic who imploded.
Now, punters have bit back as Donald Dundas, Uddingston, emailed: "Oh, Andrew. You and the rest of the 'always cheated, never defeated'.
"Rangers didn't win 55? Celtic lost it? So your beloved team hadn't really won the last four, as your detested Rangers lost them? I hope you have the brains to see the irony."
John Spence, South Ayrshire, nibbled: "So, according to Andrew, Stevie G's Rangers weren't responsible for stopping Celtic's quest for 10 in a row, a dodgy Celtic goalkeeper was the reason.
"Reminds me of a comment made on the Hotline many years ago, asking the question 'Can anyone out there remember when Celtic lost simply because the other team were better?'"
Kenny Wilson, from Moffat , dangled the fishing rod as he said tongue in cheek: "With Rangers looking like bringing Gerrard back with his impressive managerial trophy haul and rumours of signing Jamie Vardy (who’s 3x older than the club), it’s really worrying times for us Celtic fans!
"One thing guaranteed is plenty more complaining about officials as Gerrard is second to none in that department."
The Old Firm tit for tat is in full swing as David McGill, Balornock, wrote: "John Spence said in Thursday's hotline that Brendan left Celtic for a lesser team in Leicester than Gerrard left Rangers for Aston Villa.
