Celtic Park miss revisited as Hibs star looks to silence critics and pinpoints 'top strikers around the world' after Parkhead shock

Cambuslang's Kevin Nisbet knows he should have netted against Celtic last month - but the Hibs striker says it won't get him down.

The forward is preparing for a huge match this evening as Hibs face Hearts in the Edinburgh derby.

It's been an up and down season for the Cambuslang man, who has scored eight goals with three assists in 30 matches this term.

A big talking point arose when he missed a near-open goal against Celtic in Premiership action last month when Shaun Maloney's side went down 2-0 losers at Parkhead.

It's something that hasn't bothered Nisbet and he responded with a goal in his next match against Cove Rangers. He's keen to send a message to those who doubt him.

Nisbet told Sky Sports of his Parkhead miss: "It's part and parcel of being a striker. If you look at the top strikers around the world, they all miss chances.

"It doesn't affect me as much. I know I have doubters but it's up to me to silence them. The more doubters, the better, as I get to prove them wrong. I think it's (his season) been up and down.

"I've not scored as many goals and I think when you're not scoring goals as a striker everything else gets looked at. I think my overall play's been good, but the goal part needs to improve.

"I always take ownership when I miss chances. It's down to me to put them away. I keep telling the boys to keep creating chances for me and I will eventually put them away."
