Celtic hero watches on as Rangers put former side to sword in dramatic Hampden clash

Muirhouse's Kieran Tierney returned north to watch his former side - but it was Rangers who prevailed against Celtic in a tense Scottish Cup semi-final.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side won 2-1 in Mount Florida to set up a showpiece final with Hearts next month.

Greg Taylor's deflected effort had put Celtic ahead but Rangers hit back through a Scott Arfield strike that took the game to extra time.

As the Hoops tired, the Premiership champions caught a second wind after 120 minutes of Europa League quarter final action against Braga the previous Thursday, Carl Starfelt appearing to turn home a Calvin Bassey cross into his own net.

Tierney is at English Premier League side Arsenal now but was spotted at Hampden to watch Celtic alongside a host of other famous faces.

Coatbridge's Stephen Welsh and Bellshill's Anthony Ralston ended the game in defence for Ange Postecoglou's side but they couldn't inspire victory.

Wishaw's David Turnbull also came off the bench for Celtic while Uddingston's Alex Lowry was an unused Rangers substitute.
