Celtic hero takes aim at Clement over Rangers collapse, bizarre soundbites and claims he's committed Glasgow sin

Former Celtic star Alan Stubbs believes Phillipe Clement will be feeling the Rangers heat – if the Hoops add the Scottish Cup in the wake of securing a 12th title in 13 seasons.

The Belgian was universally praised for his Ibrox rejuvenation project as he led his side from seven points behind to top of the table in February. But it wasn't to last as defeats to Motherwell, Ross County and Celtic put paid to Rangers' dream of displacing Scottish football's dominant force. Stubbs believes Clement's claims in recent press conferences have been wide of the mark and now he must deck Celtic at Hampden to change the narrative.

Speaking to safestbettingsites.co.uk, he said: "Realistically, the wheels have come off towards the end of the season for Rangers. He has to answer the question of why that is. If Clement loses the cup final, he will be under pressure from the very start of next season. He did a decent job in terms of turning Rangers around from where they were when he arrived, but when you reflect on it at the end of the season, they could be worse off points-wise from where they were when he took over.

"They were seven behind when he came in. Then they went ahead but potentially they could be back to seven or so behind at the end of the season after playing Hearts at Tynecastle while Celtic entertain St Mirren. So, the question is, has he really done a good job?"

"I also think some of his press conferences have been a bit bizarre in terms of how he's tried to reflect on things. One thing you cannot do as a Celtic or Rangers manager is to take personally the criticism that comes your way and react to it - and it looks as though that is what he has done at times."
