Celtic hero shares Ryder Cup breakfast snap and says ‘It feels like pre beating The Rangers’

Golf fans were up bright and early to catch the start of the Ryder Cup in Rome and have been lapping up the action from the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.

And Celtic fans were loving former Hoops midfielder Alan Thompson’s social media post as he shared a picture of his breakfast to set him up for the first day of action in Italy. And the Geordie couldn’t resist a cheeky wee dig at his former rivals as he tucked in to his morning sustenance ahead of enjoying thew matchplay action from Italy.

Posting a picture of a mug of tea, bulging bagel and orange juice in a champagne glass he posted: “Ryder cup breakfast!! It feels like pre beating The Rangers #rydercup #celtic.” The 49-year-old won eight major trophies in seven years at Parkhead, after Martin O’Neill signed him fro Aston Villa, and punters were loving his post.

One said: “Breakfast of Champions Alan.” But the Ibrox legions weren’t so impressed and said: “It’s all about the Rangers,” while another joked: “You’ve burned your bagel.”
