Celtic gifted injury boost as reporter relays news involving 'very valuable' player via Twitter

Celtic midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi has returned to training and should be available on the weekend, according to reporter John McGinley.

Ideguchi, who was hailed by his former manager Marcelo Bielsa as a ‘very valuable’ professional, suffered an injury on his first Celtic start last month.

The midfielder was on the end of a nasty challenge from Alloa’s Mouhamed Niang in the Scottish Cup, one which was branded a ‘leg breaker’ by Michael Stewart.

The 25-year-old has missed the last four Premiership fixtures as a result, but it appears as if he will be back in the frame for the visit of Raith Rovers on Sunday in the next round of the cup.

Reporter McGinley took to Twitter on Monday evening, relaying comments from Ange Postecoglou.

He posted that there are no new injury issues ahead of this evening’s clash with Aberdeen and that Ideguchi has returned to training at Lennoxtown.

The 25-year-old won’t feature tonight but should be in contention on Sunday.

Ideguchi missed out on a place in Celtic’s 25-man Europa Conference League squad, with Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley and Daizen Maeda coming in for Ismaila Soro, Osaze Urhoghide and Liam Shaw.

It hasn’t been the start he would have been hoping for in Glasgow, but it’s good news to hear that he is now back out on the training pitch.

You’d expect that Postecoglou would be willing to hand Ideguchi some much-needed game-time against Raith Rovers at the weekend, and thankfully it appears that the 25-year-old has avoided a serious injury.
