Celtic earn huge Champions League prize money windfall after securing knockout playoff spot with mega payday in sight

Celtic fans have a knockout Champions League clash with a European giant to look forward to - and it's great news for the club's coffers.

The freshly revised tournament has been a hit in Glasgow's east end, and it was love at first sight - as the Hoops hit Slovan Bratislava for five on the opening matchday, and relished getting one over former Rangers man Vladimir Weiss. After being brought down to earth with a resounding thud against Borussia Dortmund, things improved - and memorable home wins against RB Leipzig and Young Boys got the show back on the road. Ultimately paving the way for a clash with either record winners Real Madrid or German giants Bayern Munich in the playoffs.

Things have been a bit less positive on the road, but qualification beyond the league stage was a massive objective achieved for boss Brendan Rodgers, who swept all before him in Scotland during his first spell in Glasgow - but struggled to make his mark in Europe.
