Celtic can land dream Matondo alternative with move for “wonderful” £3.6k-p/w target - opinion

Celtic have had a fairly busy summer transfer window in terms of the number of players that have moved in and out of the club.

One player with whom they were linked but ultimately missed out upon in recent days is Rabbi Matondo.

After being linked with a move to Parkhead, the Welsh winger did end up travelling to Glasgow, only to join the Hoops’ Old Firm arch-rivals instead.

Despite this disappointment, the Bhoys still have a chance to bring in what could be their dream alternative to the former Schalke 04 attacker.

Last month, it was reported on Twitter by talkSPORT’s Geoff Peters that Celtic are keen on signing Blackburn Rovers winger Tyrhys Dolan, for a fee of around £2m to £3m.

After spending time in the youth ranks of Manchester City and Preston North End, the 20-year-old moved to Blackburn in the summer of 2020.

Throughout his previous campaign at Ewood Park, the Englishman – who is currently earning £3.6k-per-week – scored four goals and delivered three assists for his club across 34 league appearances in total.

He also racked up a shot on target percentage of 63.3%, which is higher than any other Blackburn player who scored at least one goal throughout the campaign. This highlights the attacking talent that he has at such a young age and outlined why he could be an exciting prospective addition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad for the future.

The youngster also made more crosses and interceptions than Matondo during his recent campaign on loan at Cercle Brugge, in addition to picking up fewer yellow and red cards than the new Rangers recruit.
