Celtic: Ange Postecoglou 'would love' £10m star to be at Parkhead next season
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou would love to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The on-loan Tottenham centre-back has played a key role in the Hoops’ impressive first campaign under Postecoglou, although he’s set to return to north London at the end of the current season.
Carter-Vickers has spent time out on loan at six different EFL clubs in recent years, but he looks to have finally found a home in Glasgow.
Immediately after penning a one-year loan, the 24-year-old came into the starting line-up and he has kept his place ever since.
In fact, only four other players in Postecoglou’s squad have played more minutes than Carter-Vickers (3,830), with the defender making 42 appearances across all competitions.
Carter-Vickers has even chipped in with four Scottish Premiership goals, including a vital equaliser in the Old Firm win at Rangers recently, while he was also named in the Premiership team of the year.
As a result, Celtic have been hoping to extend his stay in Glasgow and were linked with a permanent move in January, although they’re yet to meet Tottenham’s £10m asking-price, which would break the club’s record transfer.
Regardless, O’Rourke believes that Postecoglou remains desperate to keep Carter-Vickers at Celtic Park ahead of next season.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Ange Postecoglou would love to keep him at the club on a permanent basis and Spurs would happily sell him, but for the right price.”
