Celtic and Rangers see another Premiership rival cut away tickets as chairman issues call to arms

New St Johnstone supremo Adam Webb has issued a call to arms to his club's supporters after announcing a cut to the current away allocation Celtic and Rangers receive at McDiarmid Park.

Webb has revealed the East Stand will now be out of commission for the big two for their visits to Perth as he aims to turn their home stadium into a "fortress". St Johnstone are following on from Hearts, Hibs and St Mirren who have cut the allocation of the Glasgow giants in recent seasons, with Premiership rivals putting their own punters ahead of potential extra revenue from travelling fans. Hibs pulled no punches when they insisted their driving motivation for change was down to "abhorrent behaviour and chanting".

Webb concedes for it to work then St Johnstone fans must turn out in numbers and revealed added provisions are incoming to sweeten the prospect of attending games rather than tuning in from home. St Johnstone will put their plan into practice when they host Celtic on September 28, a match being broadcast by Premier Sports.

"Dear Saints fans, I wanted to take this opportunity to communicate directly with you about the important matters of matchday attendance and our plans moving forward for matches against Celtic and Rangers.

"Your unwavering support as part of our loyal fan base is the cornerstone of our success. With that in mind, I want to emphasise our commitment to making McDiarmid Park a true fortress for our team, particularly when hosting Celtic or Rangers. Historically, we have sometimes allocated the East Stand to visiting supporters and moved supporters to the Geoff Brown Stand. We have also allotted more seats than necessary in the Geoff Brown Stand to opposing fans. Under our new policies, to be announced later
