Celtic and Aberdeen fans braced for kit price hike as adidas 'set' to bump up costs

Celtic and Aberdeen fans could face paying even more for club kits with adidas reportedly set to hike up prices.

It's claimed the German sportswear giant are ready to introduce a blanket 5-10 per cent increase due to rising production costs.

Footyheadlines.com report they will seek to offset those costs by bumping up prices.

It's said the price of materials such as nylon and cotton is set to increase 1-4 per cent and the cost of labour by 11 per cent.

It means Celtic and Aberdeen supporters will likely be forced to pay more to get their hands on kits going forward.

An adult Celtic home top is currently priced at £45 on the club's official website and for the Dons it's £35, reduced from £50.

Aberdeen extended their adidas deal for a further five years back in November, while Celtic also signed a five-year agreement in June 2020.

German newspaper Die Rheinphalz state adidas are braced to lose up to €400million after pulling out of Russia.

They joined the likes of Nike and Puma in halting operations following Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

Adidas have temporarily closed 500 stores and halted deliveries, while also suspending its deal with the Russian national team.

They also provide kits for the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid and some kit prices could top £100 if the increase goes ahead.
