CBS Sports use first ever all-female panel for Champions League coverage

CBS Sports used an all-female panel to present its coverage of the Champions League coverage last night.

The American television network packed its studio out with female expert voices on football, including presenter Kate Abdo.

She was joined by former players Kaylyn Kyle, Eni Aluko and Lianne Sanderson as guests, with referee Christina Unkel as the studio’s “rules expert”.

Jenny Chu and Jules Breach, a regular feature on BT Sport Score, were presenting pitchside, while Robyn Cowen and Karen Carney commentated on Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Lille.

Pien Meulensteen and Lucy Ward were the commentators as Juventus were thrashed 3-0 by Villarreal.

“Well this is a special Champions League day for CBS Sports and for Paramount plus,” Abdo said as she introduced the panel.

“Football is a diverse sport but it’s a sport where women have long had to fight to prove that our voices belong.

“And a show like today chooses to celebrate our voices on a Champions League knockout night, and players and analysts and commentators, reporters and referees of this level deserve this level of platform representing tonight for CBS and for women, all around the world.”
