Catalans Dragons in talks to bring over NRL captain to Super League

Cronulla Sharks captain Wade Graham has revealed that he has spoken to Catalans Dragons ahead of a possible move to Perpignan in 2023. Graham, who has played for the Sharks for over a decade, has recently opened up around a move to Super League, with Catalans looking the likely destination if the Australian international decides to leave the Pointsbet Stadium and call time on his NRL career.

At 31 years of age and over 260 NRL appearances to his name, Graham would be another experienced figure from the NRL to make the move to the Dragons, and would be a significant coup for the Super League as well.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Graham said: “I have had initial chats with Catalans. They have actually had me flagged since the story you did two years ago. They know I’m off contract and did ring me about a month ago."

The six-time New South Wales representative also stated that a move to France has always been a part of his plans, with the country having strong connections to his family.

“I told them it (playing in France) was in my future plans. It hasn’t progressed much further than that but it’s still on the cards. I’m still looking into it and it’s definitely somewhere where I’d be keen to finish. My partner (Karianne Lafrance) has a French background. I manage myself so it would be to good go through the process and talk to them. At this stage, they have expressed interest and I have said it’s certainly a goal of mine at some stage of my career to head over there.”
