Catalans Dragons tie down French winger on long-term deal

Catalans Dragons’ record try-scorer Fouad Yaha has signed a new two-year contract with the club. The France winger will now remain at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until at least the end of the 2024 season. He recently claimed the record as Catalans’ highest try-scorer and has now crossed 89 times in just 138 appearances.

Yaha, 25, said: “I’m very happy to stay at the Dragons. I feel really good here and I enjoy every day with this team. We have a strong squad and I’m proud to be part of it. It’s an honor to be the new club best try scorer and I’m looking forward to helping the club to achieve success.”

Yaha came through the club’s academy side and made his debut in 2015. After helping Dragons memorably win the Challenge Cup in 2018, he briefly joined rugby union club Agen at the end of that campaign but returned to Perpignan just a few months later.

Yaha helped Catalans surge to their first League Leaders’ Shield title and maiden Grand Final appearance last year. This season he has scored nine tries in Super League and Dragons head coach Steve McNamara said: “Fouad is a hugely popular member of the team and we are happy he has agreed a new deal.

“He has a drive and ambition to continually look to improve his game and we look forward to working with him to enable that to happen.”
