Carragher mocks Pogba message in middle of Arsenal defeat

Jamie Carragher has poked fun at Paul Pogba’s message in the middle of Manchester United defeat to Arsenal.

Manchester United were beaten 3-1 at Arsenal on Saturday to pile further misery onto their season.

Nuno Tavares opened the scoring and Bukayo Saka doubled the hosts’ lead, before Cristiano Ronaldo pulled one back in the first half.

Bruno Fernandes missed the chance to equalise from the penalty spot after the break and that was soon compounded when Granit Xhaka confirmed the victory with a sublime strike from range.

Pogba missed the game with an injury he picked up in the chastening loss at Liverpool, with many speculating he may have played his last game for Manchester United.

Ralf Rangnick seemed to suggest as such when ruling the Frenchman out of the next few fixtures in an absence likely to run to the end of his contract this summer.

At the start of the second half at the Emirates, Pogba expressed his unhappiness at having to miss out.

‘Absolutely gutted to not be able to help the team in today’s game,’ he tweeted. ‘I will work even harder to come back stronger and hopefully before the end of the season. It’s not over Thank you all for your support, United we would stand!’

The message received predictable criticism from much of the Manchester United fanbase in difficult circumstances, but Carragher saw the funny side in his own response.
