Carlos Corberan's injury update on 'excellent' Danel Sinani after early exit in Barnsley win

Danel Sinani made a telling difference for Huddersfield Town in the 2-1 win against Barnsley before he was replaced at half time by Scott High. He played a key role in both of his side’s goals; taking the corner which led to Jordan Rhodes’ opener before supplying a brilliant assist for Harry Toffolo’s goal.

His evening was, unfortunately, cut short though as he did not emerge for the second half with the rest of his team mates. Carlos Corberan confirmed after the match that the 25-year-old was unable to continue.

“The medical staff told me that he couldn’t keep playing because he felt something in his adductor,” said the Terriers boss. “That’s the reason why he couldn’t keep playing the second half.”

The early withdrawal may well have been precautionary with both eyes now firmly on the upcoming play-off campaign for Town. Fans will be hoping that is the case, especially with it remaining unclear as to when Sorba Thomas will return to action.

Speaking after the game, Corberan touched on the impact Sinani had in the first half whilst also referring to how well he has balanced performing at both club and international level.

“Sinani was excellent in the first half, he had a high contribution to the three points,” said the Spaniard. “He was involved in the two goals.

“He always tries to do his best, sometimes the things work well and sometimes it doesn’t work in the perfect way but, for me, he has been excellent knowing that this is a player that never rests. When the team is resting, he goes to Luxembourg to play all the international games so it’s not easy to manage.
