Carlo Ancelotti praises Man City and makes Real Madrid admission after Champions League comeback

Carlo Ancelotti admits he doesn't know how Real Madrid were able to produce a stunning injury-time comeback to knock Manchester City out of the Champions League.

City were two goals ahead on aggregate in their semi-final second leg as the clock ticked over 90 minutes and six minutes of injury time were added. But Rodrygo's poacher goal and his header two minutes later stunned City and sent the tie to extra time - where Karim Benzema won and scored a penalty to win the game for Real.

The Blues were unable to respond to Real's late goals in normal time, and looked floored at full time as Real players celebrated. Ancelotti had called upon Real to use the 'magic' of the Bernabeu and after leading them to the final admitted their Champions League history helped them believe.

"I can't say we're used to living this kind of night. It happened for us what happened against Chelsea and against PSG. It's really difficult to say why," Ancelotti said, praising City for their control of the game.

"This is the biggest history of this club that helps us to kick on when it seems we are gone. It's true, the game was close to finishing, we were unable to find the last energy we had.

"We played a good game against a strong rival. After that we equalised, of course we were better psychologically in extra time. I have no time to think about this [that the game was lost], it was difficult in this period when City had good control of the game. The last opportunity we were able to go to extra time."
