Carlo Ancelotti gives honest verdict on Real Madrid pre-season win vs Manchester United

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti felt his side produced a "good performance" in their 2-0 win over Manchester United in Houston.

Goals from Jude Bellingham, who bagged his first for the club, and Joselu sealed a routine win for the Spanish giants, condemning United's senior stars to their first defeat of pre-season. United were dealt a huge blow less than five minutes into the game, losing Kobbie Mainoo to injury.

The youngster, who was making his fourth consecutive start for the first team, was replaced by Christian Eriksen, who was later taken off just past the hour mark. Boss Erik ten Hag refrained from making any changes at the interval, meaning United are now at the point in pre-season where their players are starting to increase their minutes and fitness levels.

United were unable to find a way past Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Ten Hag, once again, questioned his side's finishing, whereas Ancelotti was pleased with the performance of his side.

"We put in a good performance, especially in the first half," Ancelotti told Madrid's club website. "We played well and defended well.

"The second half was more controlled, with a good approach and commitment. Our team has a lot of physical and technical quality.

"The squad is very good and has improved with the new additions. We're complete."
