Arizona Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon was the latest NFL coach shown the door on "Black Monday," getting dismissed a day after the team suffered its ninth straight loss of the season.

The move was announced via the team’s website after the Cardinals ended the season with a 37-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

"Jonathan is a very smart, motivated, enthusiastic, intelligent, awesome coach," Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill said during a press conference on Monday.

"He made us better, but I think, as you all know, this is a league about wins and losses. The wins and losses speak for themselves — especially this year. We just felt like we were going in the wrong direction, and we needed to change course."

Gannon, 43, was short with the media after the game and had little to elaborate on after the Cardinals finished with a 3-14 record.

"Not a great one," he said when asked to summarize the season. "A lot of adversity, but growth will happen."

"My best memory? My best memory has not happened," he continued. "It will be the growth that comes from this year. That’s a good question."
