Cardiff Road in Newport closed due to collision - latest updates

Gwent Police have advised that Cardiff Road in Newport has been forced to close due to a road traffic collision.

The stretch of road affected runs between Tredegar Park and the traffic lights by Subway at the bottom of the Gaer.

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

The incident was first reported at 10:04pm on Wednesday (February 2).

There were no further details immediately available on the nature of the collision, nor whether anyone was injured in the incident.

Posting on Twitter, Gwent Police said: "Please avoid, Cardiff Road Newport, closure from Tredegar Park to lights by Subway/ bottom of the Gaer. Road Traffic collission , Emergency Services are present."
