Cardiff City transfer headlines as Coventry and Wolves kids on trial and Bluebirds' stance on Millwall man revealed

Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Wednesday, May 4.

Trialists will flood into Wales' capital city club over the course of the next few weeks and months as Cardiff look to rebuild not only their first team, but add quality to their academy, too.

On Tuesday, the Bluebirds took on Crewe Alexandra in their final under-23s game of the season, the perfect opportunity to take a look at a youngster or two, over whom they could run the rule ahead of possible summer acquisitions.

There were three trialists on show for Darren Purse's men. The first, the No. 8, was Jaami Qureshi, the winger from Brighton who WalesOnline revealed came on trial last week.

But WalesOnline has now learned the identities of the two other, as yet unknown, members of Purse's side which took the field at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday.

The goalkeeper was James Pardington, a 21-year-old currently contracted to Wolves. The shot stopper has enjoyed loan stints with Bath City, Stratford Town, Dulwich Hamlet and Mansfield Town in recent years, but has never made an appearance for Wolves.

He struggled for game time in the Premier League 2, making only three appearances as others were ahead of him. But with both Alex Smithies and George Ratcliffe out of contract this summer, Cardiff are bound to make at least a couple of signings between the sticks.

The other trialist was No. 3, Fionn O'Brien. At just 18, he has been part of the Sky Blues' under-18s setup this season, featuring twice for their under-23s side. The left-footed centre-half started the game against Crewe a little shakily but grew into the match and became more settled as the tie wore on.
