Cardiff City manager search Live as Dean Smith installed as favourite to take top job

Cardiff City's search for a new manager is set to roll into another day.

Valerien Ismael and Sabri Lamouchi have now been joined on the shortlist by former Norwich City boss Dean Smith, who's now the favourite with the bookies to take over.

The Bluebirds return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Luton Town, and the need for a new boss in the hot-seat feels increasingly pressing, particularly with transfer deadline day looming on the horizon.

Defeat to Millwall last weekend has deepened their relegation worries, with the Bluebirds three points ahead of the dropzone. Fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town, who sit one place below them, now have two games in hand over City, meaning they could soon get sucked into bottom three.

Sam Allardyce was previously the bookies' favourite for the top job, however he's since ruled himself out of the running, which you can read about here.

Neil Warnock remains high on the odds list, too, although again he has seemingly distanced himself from a possible return.
