Cardiff City 3-0 Cheltenham Town: Bluebirds breeze into Carabao Cup third round after convincing win
Cardiff City coasted past Cheltenham Town and breezed into the third round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 win over the League Two basement boys at Cardiff City Stadium.
Brian Barry-Murphy remains unbeaten now in seven games as Bluebirds boss and against the Robins, with a changed side, City arguably looked the most comfortable they have been all season.

Momentum is well and truly with the Bluebirds at the moment, with another clean sheet chalked up against lowly Cheltenham. A near perfect night for the Welsh capital city club.
The Bluebirds started brightly and almost went ahead inside five minutes when Yousef Salech struck the crossbar after being picked out by Tanatswa Nyakuhwa’s low cross. Joel Colwill also tested goalkeeper Joe Day early on, before Isaak Davies lit up the evening with a sensational solo opener on 11 minutes.
Breaking from his own half after a Cheltenham corner, the winger weaved past defenders before calmly finishing into the bottom corner.
Cardiff remained firmly on top, with Nyakuhwa and Salech continuing to cause problems, but it was captain Calum Chambers who doubled the lead on 32 minutes. Davies turned provider, delivering a superb cross which Chambers glanced into the far corner with a perfectly-timed header.
Cheltenham were handed a lifeline five minutes later when Chambers slipped chasing Lee Angol and brought him down inside the box. But Angol’s penalty was superbly saved by Matt Turner, who pushed it onto the post before the striker
