Cardiff City 2-0 Swansea City: Tanner and Ramsey goals earn Bluebirds South Wales derby bragging rights

Cardiff City finally have the South Wales derby bragging rights again after second-half goals from Ollie Tanner and Aaron Ramsey downed Swansea City 2-0.

While Cardiff banged on the door for most of the match, Swansea held firm until the 70th minute, when Tanner proved the difference maker, netting his first Bluebirds goal in sublime fashion as he rifled a low shot into the bottom corner. An inspired substitution from Erol Bulut.

And then, of course, it was Ramsey who made it two from the penalty spot. It was Tanner who earned the spot-kick, drawing a clumsy foul from Kristian Pedersen late on and the Wales captain stepped up and coolly slotted home.

For Bulut, he will hope this can really kickstart their campaign. Swansea, meanwhile, were poor for the most part and struggled to create too many meaningful chances. It's a case of back to the drawing board for Michael Duff.

The pre-match headline for Cardiff was that Ramsey was passed fit to start after being brought off in the 49th minute in Wales' 2-0 win over Latvia on Monday.

He captained the side, with Bulut preferring Ryan Wintle alongside Manolis Siopis in the middle of the park. Jak Alnwick was between the sticks, replacing Alex Runarsson.

It was five changes for Swansea, with three players making their debuts, or second debut, in the case of Jamal Lowe. Fellow deadline- day signing Pedersen came in, too, on the left side of a back three that also saw Harry Darling return to slot in alongside Nathan Wood.
