The pound-for-pound megastar Alvarez (57-1-2, 30 KOs) worked alongside Matchroom and DAZN back in 2021, and he set to return to the streaming platform for this next contest.

Canelo will be making the step up in weight in a bid for the WBA Light-Heavyweight title when he takes on Dmitry Bivol (19-0, 11 KOs).

Canelo vs Bivol is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday May 7th and will be available live on PPV and as part of a DAZN streaming subscription in the United Kingdom.

Although the actual time of the fight has not yet been confirmed, it is likely that it will be taking place in the United States, therefore it will likely be into the early hours on Sunday May 8th.

Speaking ahead of the fight to Matchroom Boxing, Canelo revealed exactly why he and his team have opted to have the fight take place on that specific weekend in May 2022.

He said: “I am very happy with this fight against Dmitry Bivol. It is another great challenge for me and my career — especially as I go up in weight and face an exceptional light heavyweight champion like Bivol.

“I am also very excited that we have this fight slated for Cinco De Mayo Weekend – May 7 – for all the fans to enjoy. We will be ready, like we always are.”
