Canadian GP: What's the weather forecast this weekend?

Formula 1 makes a long-awaited return to Montreal this weekend as the sport heads to Canada for the first time since 2019.

The Canadian Grand Prix is one of the more popular on the calendar thanks to its entertaining track and, sometimes, unpredictable weather conditions.

Indeed, we’ve seen some great races there in the past thanks to the rain, so here we’re looking at what we can expect this weekend at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve:

Friday

24C is the highest temperature predicted all weekend and that will come on Friday, which also sees the highest chance of rain.

Current forecasts say that there is a 60% chance of rain during the day in Montreal, which could leave the drivers having to deal with some wet running.

Saturday

Things get a bit cooler on Saturday with highs predicted of 21C and it also could be a drier one than Friday with just a 20% chance of rain being forecast.

FP3 and qualifying take place on Saturday and after potential wet conditions on Friday, FP3 could be hugely important as the drivers try and get some dry running in before quali.

Sunday

The settled conditions continue on Sunday according to forecasts.

There’s again a high predicted of 21C and the chance of rain is once again at 20%, which means very similar conditions could play out over the two weekend days.

Things in Montreal can change quickly, though, so will just have to wait and see what actually develops.
