Canadian GP: Torrential rain turns Montreal pitlane into lake
Formula 1 is back in Montreal this weekend for the Canadian Grand Prix and the country has provided a rather wet welcome for the paddock.
The race hasn’t been held since 2019 thanks to the pandemic but things are returning to normal now and it’s great to see F1 back in Canada for what is one of the more popular Grands Prix on the calendar.
Over the years, we’ve seen the weather play its part in some hugely dramatic races but, if the current weather continues, we might not be seeing much racing at all.
Indeed, the heavens opened in Montreal on Thursday with the rain absolutely hammering down and turning much of the circuit into a lake, including the pitlane.
This video from the Alpine F1 team underlines that, with a van heading down and pretty much creating a bow wave as it goes:
Guess the boat race is on in Montreal after all.
