Canadian diver Caeli McKay finishes just off podium in Olympic women's 10m platform

Canadian diver Caeli McKay fell just short of the podium in the Olympic women's 10-metre platform final on Tuesday, finishing 7.6 points away from bronze.

The 25-year-old from Calgary earned a total of 364.50 points over five dives at the Aquatics Centre in Saint-Denis, France.

McKay moved from eighth to fourth place in the third round before adding two more strong dives, but it ultimately wasn't enough to surpass North Korea's Kim Mi-rae for the bronze medal.

China's Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi claimed gold and silver — with total scores of 421.05 and 403.05, respectively — a repeat of their finish at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

McKay also finished fourth in Tokyo. She placed seventh out of 18 in Monday's semifinal.

Quan and Chen teamed up earlier to win the 10-metre synchronized event in Paris.

China is aiming for an unprecedented sweep of the eight diving golds. The Chinese so far have won five golds after winning the four synchronized competitions in the opening week of the Games.
