Canada's Evan Dunfee finishes 6th in men's 35km race walk at World Athletics Championships
Canada's Evan Dunfee finished sixth in the men's 35 kilometre race walk on Sunday at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
The native of Richmond, B.C., finished with a time of two hours, 25 minutes and two seconds, which was 1:48 behind gold medallist Massimo Stano of Italy.
Japan's Masatora Kawano won silver - finishing just one second back of the lead - while Perseus Karlström of Sweden took the bronze.
The 31-year-old Dunfee set a personal best – along with a North American record – surpassing his time of 2:38:08 in the event in March at the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in Oman.
Dunfee was a bronze-medal winner at the 2020 Tokyo Games in the 50km event.
More to come.
