The Canadian women's rugby sevens team advanced to the Cup semifinals of the HSBC World SVNS event in Valladolid, Spain, after a lopsided win over Japan on Saturday.
Olivia Apps opened the scoring and added three conversions in Canada's 40-5 quarterfinal victory at Estadio Jose Zorrilla.
Asia Hogan-Rochester, Florence Symonds, Charity Williams, Savannah Bauder, and Adia Pye each also scored tries for the Canadians, who will next face the U.S on Sunday with a spot in the Cup final on the line.
The other Cup semifinal will see Australia face New Zealand.
Canada went a perfect 3-0 in pool play, capped off by Saturday's 24-7 win over France. Apps had a pair of tries in that matchup, with Williams and Bauder each chipping in a try apiece.
The Canadians began play at the Spanish stop of the tour on Friday, notching wins against the hosts (35-5) and Great Britain (21-12).
