Manchester Town Hall is currently a sight to behold, or rather, not to behold. It's swathed in scaffolding and protective sheets, undergoing a transformation that will only be revealed after the extensive restoration work is now expected to complete in July 2026.

The project aims to see the Victorian institution, which dates back to 1877, "renovated from top to bottom and made 'future proof' for years to come."

Once it’s complete, the resplendent Town Hall will retain its original feeling - more cathedral than civic centre - whilst retaining its important civic functions.

While it's set to be an impressive reveal, for now, the iconic building remains out of sight. To add a bit of fun while we wait, we've employed some Photoshop magic to obscure other well-known Greater Manchester landmarks.
