Campbell returns to Irish squad for Nations League double-header, call-up for McLaughlin

Megan Campbell has been recalled to the Republic of Ireland squad for the Nations League double-header with Albania.

The 30-year-old, who recently joined Everton on a short-term deal, missed the World Cup after failing to make a full return to fitness before the tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

The defender will look to add to her 47 caps when Ireland host Albania on Friday, 27 October at Tallaght Stadium before travelling to Shkoder four days later.

Interim head coach Eileen Gleeson has included in-form midfielder Erin McLaughlin in the squad of 26. McLaughlin was instrumental in Peamount United claiming the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division title last week with two games still to play.

Sinead Farrelly also returns, having pulled out ahead of last window due to concerns around aggravating an injury with long-haul flight.

Niamh Fahey, Aoife Mannion, Claire Walsh, Tara O'Hanlon, Ruesha Littlejohn, Roma McLaughlin, Jess Ziu and Leanne Kiernan are all ruled out through injury.

The match at Tallaght Stadium is a sell-out, with the Girls in Green looking to make it three wins from three in Group B1 following on from victories over Northern Ireland and Hungary last month.
