Cambuslang Rangers co-boss delighted as his side bags first top-flight league win

Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Billy Campbell says he couldn’t fault a single player as his side picked up their first top flight win in the West of Scotland Premier Division this season.

The Somervell Park outfit had lost all four of their opening games going into Saturday’s clash away to Arthurlie, but they fired three goals past their hosts to pick up their first three points.

Scott Anson was at the double for Camby in the second half after Jay Nelson had opened the scoring early in the first half and Campbell said every single member of his squad put on a performance.

He beamed: “I’m chuffed. The boys played well and played with a bit of confidence.

“They weren’t passive in any way. They were in about it from the start of the game and we deserved the win.

“I don’t think there was a bad performance in the team. And I thought, to a man, they were fantastic.

“The galling thing lately is they’ve not been playing bad, they’ve just not got the results and had that rub of the green.

“But we played with a good tempo and pace on Saturday and it was good to come home with a wee win for a change.

“Scott played really well on Saturday. He’s been working hard recently and a lot of things just haven’t been coming off for him, but it did for him this week.

“He linked very well with Kyle Maxwell and Jay Nelson and managed to get a couple of goals.

“He probably could have had a hat-trick but the keeper had an absolutely worldie of a save late on to deny him.

“He led the line as the captain really well and it was a good day all in.”

Camby will be desperate to build on the positive vibes when they travel to Kilwinning Rangers on Friday night, in a game rearranged after the clash was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth earlier
