Calvin Bassey Rangers 'foul' ahead of winner gets unanimous pundits verdict after Jim Goodwin fury

Pundits Leanne Crichton and James McFadden cleared Calvin Bassey of any wrongdoing in the build-up to Rangers winner.

Kemar Roofe ’s late clincher earned Gio van Bronckhorst’s side a vital three points late in the clash at Ibrox.

However, Jim Goodwin claimed that Calvin Ramsay was fouled by Bassey in the build-up to the goal.

The full-back won the ball from the Scotland youth cap after receiving James Tavernier's cross.

He then played the ball to Glen Kamara who would cut the ball back across the box for Tavernier to knock it on to Roofe for a tap-in.

Goodwin insisted it was a "simple decision" for referee John Beaton, but the Sportscene pundits took a different view.

When asked if there was a foul from Bassey or a hint of offside of the Rangers attacker, Crichton said: "It's definitely onside, I think we've looked at it a number of times there and I can perhaps understand the claims for a foul, but for me it would be soft.

"I think it's a claim against Basset. Bassey looks to keep the ball alive, and for me there is not enough.

"There is a lot of play that happens beyond that point, and Aberdeen have numerous opportunities to deal with it and they don't.

"But Kemar Roofe is clearly onside."

McFadden insisted Aberdeen should have done better defensively rather than blame the whistler.

He added: "I can understand Jim Goodwin claiming for it, and I would be claiming for it as well.

"I think Ramsey has to be stronger. He has got to be aware that there is going to be a challenge. That would be a soft one, and I think the disappointing thing will be (for Jim Goodwin) is how Aberdeen responded to that."
