Caitlyn Jenner to run all-female motor racing team at F1 weekends

Caitlyn Jenner will run a motor racing team in the all-female W Series for the 2022 campaign.

The former professional athlete, who won the gold medal in decathlon at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montréal and reached a new level of celebrity after appearing on the worldwide hit reality TV series Keeping Up With The Kardashians since 2007, will become team principal and oversee the day-to-day running of Jenner Racing team.

W Series was launched in launched 2019 as a way for female drivers to be able to compete in a dedicated single-seater championship, and is now run as a support race at Formula 1 events during grand prix weekends around the world. This season, the series will conduct eight races at locations including Silverstone, Suzuka, and the Circuit of the Americas. The first two W Series campaigns have been won by Britain’s Jamie Chadwick.

“As a believer in fair competition, a lover of motor racing, and a supporter of all women in sport from the grassroots to elite level, W Series ticks every box for me and is a fusion of the different aspects of my career,” Jenner said.

“A championship dedicated to inspiring young girls and giving women the chance to succeed in roles throughout what has traditionally been a male-dominated industry, W Series is changing the face of motorsport. I will be beaming with pride when my Jenner Racing team starts its bid for W Series glory on motor racing’s greatest stage at the first race of season three in Miami, USA, in support of Formula 1. As has always been the case, I’m in it to win it.”
