Cage Lookman to beat Atalanta, Wright tells Arsenal
Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has named Ademola Lookman as one players Arsenal must cage if they want to defeat Atalanta in today’s UEFA Champions League tie, reports nowarsenal.com.
The Nigerian international has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence at Atalanta, scoring 24 league goals over the past two seasons and recording a hat-trick in last season’s Europa League final victory. His strong performances have attracted interest from clubs like Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, though he stayed in Italy for the current season.
Lookman’s recent form has been especially impressive, contributing a goal and an assist in Atalanta’s 3-2 win over Fiorentina last weekend. His display caught Wright’s attention, and the former Arsenal striker shared his thoughts on his podcast, Wrighty’s House.
“Oh gosh, did you see his first assist with the way he just flicked it?” Wright remarked. “It’s really beautiful football, I’m so pleased for him. But yeah, he worries me. We’ve got Ben White on that side, and if Lookman’s on the wing, we are going to be entertained. They’re a great team, especially with him.”
Lookman, now 26, has matured after spells at RB Leipzig, Leicester City, and Fulham. Wright believes that his current form could lead to a move to one of Europe’s top clubs.
“I’m pleased for him. His journey, from Charlton to now, shows his growth. I don’t think Atalanta is his final destination, as much as it’s been a great fit for him. It wouldn’t surprise me if a big move happens soon,” Wright added.
