Caerphilly school goes into police lockdown
A Welsh school was placed in lockdown with help from the police. In a message to parents, the head of St Martin's School in Caerphilly described it as an "isolated incident" on Tuesday morning.
In a post shared online, Lee Jarvis said: "We are currently undertaking a lockdown assisted by the police. There is no risk to any staff or children. The school is secure and everyone is safe and this is an isolated incident involving two children that has been contained."
The message also urged parents not to make their way to the school. A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "We had a call at about 10.30am reporting concern for safety on the school premises. The school was put into lockdown as a precaution. Officers attended. There are no safety concerns, and the lockdown has been lifted."
They added: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish if this was a malicious report."
